Herefordshire Lantern

£12.50 - £16.50

The Herefordshire Lantern is a traditional corn dolly, woven by myself from a traditional variety of wheat, tied with linen.

Corn dollies are a very old rural craft with roots in pagan beliefs. They were originally crafted from the last sheaf of corn harvested in which it was believed the spirit of the corn resided.

Believed to bring prosperity, fertility, and fine weather. They are a symbol of our connection to the earth, and our reliance on nature to nourish and sustain us.

Sizes measured from top of braided loop to tip of the wheat ears. Some variation due to handmade nature.
Small - 21cm
Medium - 23cm
Large - 26cm
